As an Air Force veteran I went to college under the GI bill and completed my Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of South Carolina and my MBA from Pepperdine University. Upon graduation my business experience included management and executive positions at Owens-Corning Fiberglass and Dun & Bradstreet Companies. I began my management consultant practice to private and public sector clients in 1976 specializing in Human Resource services and compensation-system design and strategy. In January of 2014, I sold the Compensation Division of my company to the Segal Company and five months later in May 2014, I sold the Executive Recruitment Division to Springsted Incorporated.
During my years as President of the Waters Consulting Group, Inc. (WCG), I developed an extensive background and reputation in performance management, strategic Human Resource planning and compensation design. As an active consultant, I maintained my credentials as a Certified Management Consultant by the Institute of Management Consultants USA. This distinction was awarded as evidence of the highest standards in consulting and adherence to the ethical canons of the profession. I also have maintained throughout my career an active membership in MENSA. This organization has members in almost 100 countries around the world and offers opportunities for social, cultural and intellectual interaction.
As an authority on compensation and performance-management system design for the public sector and private sector, I have spoken before hundreds of organizations over the years, including the International City and County Managers Association. The American Management Association, Southern Methodist University, the University of Maryland, California Institute of Technology, the Texas Municipal League, the International Personnel Management Association, several British companies, and numerous public-sector agencies and organizations located in the United States and Great Britain.
Some of my accomplishments and specialties include: Compensation consulting, compensation audits, classification system audits, executive recruiting, web-based HR solutions, wage and salary administration, compensation system design, management development, job evaluation system design, organizational strategy, mentoring programs, performance management systems, organizational design, skills-based-pay design, competency-based systems, sales compensation systems and succession planning.
Upon retiring I have been continuing to pursue and perfect my lifelong passion in the art of photography.
